I say 2.0, because we've been through it before. Just a month or so ago. We were just a week before closing on our "dream home", and we received a call from our agent telling us that our financial side fell through. They didn't want to finance a home built before 1976.. The home was built in 1974. It was a big let down. It had taken us over 2 months to get to that point, and I still to this day don't understand why it took the bank that long to realize it, but there wasn't anything we could do at that point. We had to let it all go. Even the thought of having our wedding there. It had plenty of land to be the perfect spot for our wedding, and life.
But! we didn't waste any time getting back in the game, and on the hunt for a new home. I think, if I had to guess, we've physically looked at over 30+ homes. Some we liked, but not the area. Some we liked, but not the land. Some we liked, but didn't quite care for how the neighbors were up your a$$, and sitting on your couch. (Did that make sense?) :)
This weekend, we looked at over 10 homes. The majority of them were in our area, and a few outside of that. Out of those, we found 1 that we really loved. I take that back, 2, but the second one wasn't in a very nice area, to say the least. The one that we do like will technically be closer to our work than where we are living now. A bit more in the country, but doesn't have as much land as the first home that we were trying to buy. This one has plenty for what we want to do, though. Which is a little over a half an acre, and the end of the backyard is hooked up to a corn field. I am hoping things work out, but I'm trying to not get my hopes up this time, until the keys are in our hands!
